It’s impossible to miss Plymouth’s naval and maritime connections when you visit this city on the English southern coast. The original religious settlers in America, the Pilgrim Fathers, set off from here to found the new Plymouth Colony in 1620.
The historic Barbican area in the centre of the town, with its classical half-timbered Tudor buildings, is a reminder of Shakespearian elegance and older.
